Today, you will first visit the world's largest city plaza - the historic Tian'anmen Square. Then walk to the marvelous "Egg" - National Centre for the Performing Arts, to take some pictures from its outside. Proceed to the magnificent Forbidden City. After having lunch in a local family during the following Hutong Tour by Rickshaw, you will be escorted to Jingshan Park. From its top you may enjoy a perfect panorama of the whole Forbidden City and the city of Beijing. In the early evening, you will take the overnight train to Luoyang (21:42-06:51). |

Tian`anmen Square (Details/Hidden)

Tian'anmen Square is located at the center of Beijing City. Paved in the Ming Dynasty, it is now the biggest city square in the world. On and around this square you can visit Tian`anmen Tower, Monument to the People's Heroes, Great Hall of the People, Mao Zedong Memorial Hall and the National Museum, etc. The present Tiananmen Square has an area of 440,000 square meters and has become a relaxing public plaza for the common people to fly kites and bummel. On holidays and festivals, the whole square is covered with lots of fresh flowers.

Forbidden City, one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites, was built in the Ming Dynasty in 1421. It is the largest and the best-preserved Imperial Palace complex in the world. For five centuries, this palace functioned as the administrative center of the country as well as the residence of emperors and empresses of Ming (1368-1644) and Qing (1644-1911) dynasties. It was absolutely forbidden for the common citizens to enter the imperia palace without permit, hence the name. It has come to a huge Palace Museum with many fabulous culture relics exhibited in various halls.

Jingshan Park, a beautiful royal landscape garden, is situated in the center of Beijing City. The park stands on the central point of the south-north axis of Beijing City and faces the north gate of the Forbidden City. The mid summit of Jingshan Hill was the highest point in Beijing. Looking from the peak, the visitor is able to get a full and clear view of the whole Forbidden City and the city of Beijing.
