Please enjoy morning fresh air, your morning excercises and breakfast! Today, you have an opportunity to take an optional shore excursion (07:00 - 09:00) to the White Emperor City (reservation and payment can be made directly at the reception of the cruise ship). Later the cruise ship will enter the first gorge - the Qutang Gorge at 09:00 o'clock and a few minutes later, it will sail through the Wu Gorge (09:00 - 13:00). You will go on another excursion (13:30 - 17:30) to the Shennong Stream or the Less Three Gorges by boat. About 18:00 the cruise ship will enter the last gorge - the Xiling Gorge. After dinner you will sail on through the Five-Stage Shiplock. |

White Emperor City (Details/Hidden)

White Emperor City was chosen in the first century AD by Gong Sunshu, an official turned soldier, as the site of his headquarters. The legend goes that in AD 25 white vapour in the shape of a dragon was seen rising from a nearby well. Taking this as an auspicious omen, Gong declared himself the 'White Emperor' and the town 'White Emperor City'. Remains of the city wall can still be seen on the hill behind Baidi Mountain. The 12-year reign of the White Emperor was regarded as a time of peace and harmony, so after his death a temple was built to commemorate his reign. This temple dates back over 1,950 years. Several hundred steps lead up the wooded Baidi Mountain. The Western Pavilion (at one time known as Guanyin Dong) on the slope is believed to have been occupied by the great poet Du Fu, who wrote numerous poems at this site. |

Qutang Gorge (Details/Hidden)

Qutang Gorge (just 8 km), the shortest one in the world-famous Three Yangtze Gorges, is the most spectacular. In this section, the Yangtze carves its way through the gorge between the sheer precipices of overhanging mountains at both sides. The mountain peaks are nestled in the clouds, making one of the Qutang Gorge's magnificent views. The narrowest point of the river bed is only several dozen meters while the widest point is more than 1, 800 meters. Kui Gate at the entrance to the gorge, two perpendicular cliffs rear over the river surface on either side, looking like a pair of giant door leaves. |

Wu Gorge is known as the Great Gorge, famous for its deep valley and quiet beauty. Wu Gorge is a long and neat gorge divided into two sections - the Golden Helmet and Silver Armor Gorge and the Iron Coffin Gorge. Noted for its deep and serene scenes, the Wu Gorge is full of zigzags, weird peaks, rising mists and beautiful sights. |

Shennong Stream (Details/Hidden)

Shennong Stream, located on the border between Wu Gorge and Xiling Gorge, has its own unique scenery. It has four natural gorges and each has unique characteristics. The gorges here are not only narrow, but also falls steeply. The evergreen vegetation along the banks remains beautiful during the whole year. Flowers blossom in all seasons and a fountain of three colors can be admired. |

Lesser Three Gorges (Details/Hidden)

Lesser Three Gorges is one of the exciting and famous stops in the Yangtze Three Gorges. It is often called the "highlight" of the cruise, even the whole China trip. Here sheer cliffs and steep mountains rise on either side, creating one of natural fine arts gallery as natural scenic wonders unfold on both banks of the river. Clear water flows between precarious precipices and peaks covered with green trees and bushes. Monkeys, mandarin ducks, water birds and fish can be seen in this area. In addition to the continuous natural scenery there are a number of historical places of interest along the way, such as suspending coffin, boat coffin, remains of ancient plank walkway. The area has been made one of the key nature reserves in China and is becoming known as a tourist attraction continuing to offer its charms. |

Five-Stage Shiplock (Details/Hidden)

Five-Stage Shiplock is the navigation part of the Three Gorges structures. The navigation part will be composed of the two-lane 5-stage ship lift locks, the vertical ship lift and the temporary ship lock gate for the navigation during the construction of the complex project, which will all locate by the left bank. The two-lane 5-stage shiplock will annually pass 50 million t of ships; a vertical ship lift can pass a navigation ship of 3000 t; and the temporary ship locks will annually pass 10 million t of ships. |
